CSLG 6160. Theories of Addiction Chemical Dependency. (3) Introduction to the theoretical, philosophical, and historical premises upon which chemical dependence addiction is explained and treatment and prevention are based. Biological, psychological, and sociological etiologies of substance abuse and dependencesubstance use and related addictive disorders are studied.

Biological, psychological, and sociological etiologies of substance abuse and dependencesubstance use and related addictive disorders are studied.

CSLG 6161. Assessment and Diagnosis of Addictive Disorders Chemical Dependency. (3) Process and procedures for professional biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis of substance use abuse and dependence related addictive disorders in adolescents and adults are studied. Implications of addiction chemical dependence for clients and their families are addressed.

CSLG 8161. Assessment and Diagnosis of Addictive Disorders Chemical Dependency. (3) Process and procedures for professional biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis of substance use abuse and dependence related addictive disorders in adolescents and adults are studied. Implications of addiction chemical dependence for clients and their families are addressed.

CSLG 6162. Interventions in Addiction Counseling Chemical Dependency: Counseling Individuals, Families, and Groups. (3) A counseling techniques course designed to help students who have worked as professional substance abuse addiction counselors and those who have little or no experience working with addicted substance dependent individuals and their families.

Computerized programs are used to aid sStudents gain practical experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and in planning, and relapse prevention planning treatment for with chemically dependent addicted clients.

CSLG 6164. The McLeod Institute on Addiction. Substance Abuse. (3) A hybrid course delivered through a combination of independent learning, self-directed study, attending the McLeod Institute on Substance Abuse Addiction conference, and completing all required course assignments by end of Summer Session I. The McLeod Institute on Addiction Substance is a conference offered annually during the third week in May. The topics vary yearly and are designed to provide both broad and specific knowledge germane to substance abuse addiction counseling. May be repeated for credit.
