Summary
To align course objectives with actual course content. Course objectives were originally written to reflect an oral intensive course. The course was changed to a writing intensive course but one of the objectives was not modified to accurately reflect the change. Modify an additional objective to incorporate a reflective writing piece among the student assignments. In order to accomplish this goal, the following changes are proposed:
- Current objective: (Objective #7 Evidence Based Objectives) Utilizes appropriate oral communication strategies when working with staff, clients and families.
Recommended change: Utilizes appropriate written communication strategies when working with staff, clients and families.
Rationale: Content is in alignment with university General Education requirement for Writing in the Discipline.
- Current objective: (Objective #4 Values Based Objectives) Evaluates the influence of culture, environment, socio-economics and health policy on nursing practice.
Recommended change: Evaluates the influence of culture, environment, socio-economics, health policy and personal philosophy on nursing practice.
Rationale: Changing the wording of the objective justifies the inclusion of a reflective writing piece among required student assignments.
