SOWK 4102. School Social Work. (3) Pre-requisites: Admission into the Upper Division BSW Program or permission provided by BSW Program Coordinator. School Social Work is designed to give students a foundation for preparation as a school social worker. For students who are currently employed as school social workers this course will enhance and broaden students’ communication, engagement and assessment skills.

SOWK 4103. Child Welfare. (3) Prerequisites: Admission into the Upper Division BSW Program or permission provided by BSW Program Coordinator. Students will examine the history, purpose, and goals of child welfare services in North Carolina and in the United States. Course information will be provided from the context of the child- and family-centered model that guides child welfare services.
