MUSC 1232. Basic Musicianship Review. (3) Prerequisite: permission of instructor. A review of basic music theory, including the analysis of diatonic harmony, two-part counterpoint, and the fundamentals of part-writing, as well as harmonic sequences, phrase and period structures, and simple forms. An aural skills and sight-singing component reviews the practical application of those theoretical materials, as well as rhythms through simple and compound meters with varying subdivisions. Three contact hours. (Summer)

MUSC 2232. Intermediate Musicianship Review. (3) Prerequisite: permission of instructor. A review of intermediate music theory, including chromatic harmony, modulation, and simple forms, as well as advanced chromaticism, large-scale forms, serialism, and basic set theory. An aural skills and sight-singing component reviews the practical application of those theoretical materials, as well as mixed meters and advanced cross-rhythms. Three contact hours. (Summer)
